What Jumping On Trampolines Can Teach You About Education

The other day I set a trampoline up for children and I went on, I jumped, did a front flip, jumped some more, landed wrong & buckled my knees…doh!

Sometimes education organizations think they are still 10 years old jumping on a trampoline, they forget to see the cracking on the exterior walls, the rust on the sign.

When asked what the problem is they usually reply “not enough students” but “not enough students” is usually a symptom of a bigger problem.

No matter how long you have been in business you could always benefit from a fresh set of eyes willing to tell you the truth.

What are the implications of a cracked wall, dirty bathroom, rusty sign, a bad attitude?…..THAT YOU DON’T CARE!

Did you watch this video from Dateline NBC, “mother orders bickering kids to walk home”…go on, I’ll wait….. Did you notice the implications to business? When the appearance of the mother changed the people on the street were less apt to protect children abandoned on a street corner.

Now if “not enough traffic” is a problem that is looming in your head is it because people don’t know about you or is it because people do know about you? Is this the question you must look in the mirror and ask yourself?

If you don’t have the money or the confidence to hire a good consultant to do some mind sharing, find someone that will tell you the truth, if you have a friend who’s spouse hates your guts ask that person, they are more willing to tell you the truth than someone that has an emotional connection to you.

Sounds pretty simple I know but I’m telling you now, go find someone that will look you in the eye and tell you the truth or just come on over to my place, we’ll jump on a trampoline together and pretend we are 20 years old again.
